Mobil-Ice – Cold treatment

Proper use of Mobil-Ice will reduce the total amount of damaged tissue, inflammation, muscle spasm and pain, therefore decreasing disability time and allowing for a quicker healing of the injury and safe return to activity.

The benefits of cryotherapy, or cold, are well established in the care and rehabilitation of acute and chronic injuries. Immediately following injury, cryotherapy has been shown to:
• Decrease pain
• Decrease muscle spasm
• Decrease tissue damage by reducing metabolism. This lowers the tissues need for oxygen and limits secondary hypoxic injury (cellular damage due to oxygen deprivation in the face of compromised circulation)
• Decrease swelling by limiting secondary hypoxic injury. Less secondary hypoxic injury means less tissue debris and thus lower oncotic pressure. The lower the oncotic pressure, the less fluid is drawn into the tissue.
